National Security Leaders Forum
CNAS provides a space where Republican and Democrat, civilian and military come together to debate and develop new strategies to address the critical national security challenges facing our nation. The National Security Leaders Forum (NSLF) provides a platform for senior civilian and military leaders to address these challenges. To date, CNAS has featured speakers in the NSLF series such as General David Petraeus, Admiral Michael Mullen, Admiral James Stavridis, and General Robert Casey.
Voices from the Field
By providing members of the U.S. military and civilian agencies who return from the front lines a venue to speak and write, CNAS helps ensure their unique and often invaluable insights inform the policy-making community. Having witnessed the execution and effects of U.S. policy firsthand, these service members and civilians offer field perspectives on best practices. Voices to date include Brigadier General John W. Nicholson Jr., Colonel Christopher D. Kolenda, Robert D. Kaplan, and Lieutenant Colonel Paul Yingling.
Next Generation National Security Leaders Program
CNAS leads efforts to inform and prepare national security leaders of today and tomorrow. The Next Generation National Security Leaders program selects the best and brightest future leaders to participate in a groundbreaking series of frank and open discussion on national security and foreign policy challenges. The goal of this program is to build a bipartisan network of emerging national security leaders and develop a shared understanding of the nation’s security interests and international priorities. Leading this effort is John Nagl, CNAS President, and Steve Biegun, Member of CNAS Board of Advisors and Vice President for International Governmental Affairs at Ford Motor Company.
