Roundtable Discussion of the Middle East Peace Process

The Center for a New American Security hosted a roundtable discussion on the importance of the Middle East peace process to the next administration’s national security agenda.

The roundtable highlighted the importance of U.S. leadership to revitalizing the peace process, the initial steps a new administration should take in this area and the challenges and opportunities they are likely to encounter.

General John Abizaid (Ret.), former Commander of the United States Central Command, delivered opening remarks on Strategic Directions in the Middle East and moderated the panel discussion.  Robert Malley, Middle East and North Africa Program Director for the International Crisis Group; Lincoln Bloomfield, President of Palmer Coates; and Bruce Riedel, Senior Fellow of the Saban Center for Middle East Policy at Brookings, participated as panelists.
