Last month, the Department of Defense (DoD) Independent Review Commission (IRC) on Sexual Assault in the Military recently released their final report and recommendations to the Secretary of Defense, the President, and Congress. Key themes of the report recognized both strengths and areas for improvement; recognizing dedicated leaders and a desire to engage; and emphasizing the need to promote climates of dignity and respect, investing in knowledgeable sexual assault responders and the strong need for proper resources and training.
On Wednesday, August 4, 2021 CNAS hosted a virtual panel discussing the Department of Defense (DoD) Independent Review Commission (IRC) on Sexual Assault in the Military and their latest report. Panelists discussed the process, findings, and recommendations. IRC commissioners Kayla Williams and Dr. Kyleanne Hunter were joined by Dr. Coreen Farris, Senior Behavioral Scientist at RAND and Tina Tchen President and CEO of TIME'S UP. The panel was moderated by Katherine Kuzminski, Senior Fellow and Director of the Military, Veterans, and Society program at CNAS.
