The Center for a New American Security cordially hosted a screening and discussion of the extraordinary documentary, The Hornet’s Nest, on Wednesday, September 10, at the United States Navy Memorial in Washington. The evening included an expert discussion featuring General John F. Allen, USMC (Ret.); Lieutenant General David W. Barno, USA, (Ret.); Peabody and Emmy Award-winning conflict journalist Mike Boettcher; and Producer and Director Christian Tureaud.
The Hornet’s Nest is the remarkable true story of U.S. soldiers and Marines serving in Afghanistan, told through the narrative of a father and son journalist team assigned to cover the conflict for ABC News. Every American who sees this powerful film will gain a greater understanding of the heroism and sacrifice made by our servicemen and women in combat. In our view, this is a must-see film for anyone seeking to understand the nature and impacts of the last decade plus of war.
A cocktail reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres began at 5 p.m., followed by the film screening and discussion at 6 p.m. Signed copies of the DVD were given away at the screening.
