Virtual Event | Deepening Defense Integration with Allies and Partners

The 2022 National Defense Strategy identifies allies and partners as its "center of gravity." But it also notes the numerous strategic, institutional, and procedural barriers to realizing the full potential of defense cooperation. A recent CNAS report, No I in Team: Integrated Deterrence with Allies and Partners, found that without significant change, barriers ranging from export controls to information sharing may stymy efforts to strengthen the allied defense industrial base and enhance preparedness for future conflicts. To actualize integrated deterrence and achieve NDS objectives, the United States will need to make changes to improve cooperation with highly capable allies and partners, notably Australia and the United Kingdom.

On Wednesday, March 1, CNAS hosted a virtual conversation with senior defense experts. The discussion will focus on how to deepen defense cooperation and improve the prospects for a combined industrial base to mutually capitalize on the opportunities and benefits of greater integration.
