February 24 will mark one year since Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. In the past few months, the lines of territorial control have remained mostly stable between Ukraine and Russia, as both countries have focused on reconstituting their forces. In response to the brutal invasion, the United States and its European allies have provided Ukraine with military, economic, and humanitarian support, which has contributed to Ukraine’s ability to stem Russian gains. As we enter the second year of the war, how might the strategies of the Russian and Ukrainian militaries evolve? Could political dynamics in the United States and Europe affect continued support for Ukraine?
