Virtual Report Launch | Operationalizing the Quad

On Tuesday, August 2 CNAS hosted an event coinciding with the launch of a new major CNAS report, “Operationalizing the Quad,” by CNAS Indo-Pacific Security Program Director Lisa Curtis, Fellow Jacob Stokes, Associate Fellow Joshua Fitt, and former Senior Military Fellow CDR Andrew J. Adams, USN.

The report outlines the recent activities and progress of the Quad toward its stated objective of promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific. The report also provides policy recommendations for strengthening cooperation within the Quad across its six priority areas—vaccines, critical and emerging technologies, climate change, infrastructure, space, and cybersecurity—as well as on trade, economics, security, and maritime issues.

The event featured a briefing of the report’s findings by three of its coauthors—Lisa Curtis, Jacob Stokes, and Joshua Fitt. Lisa Curtis then moderated an expert panel discussion featuring Camille Dawson, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs; Ms. Tomiko Ichikawa, Director General of Japan Institute of International Affairs; Dr. Gordon Flake, CEO, Perth USAsia Center; and Dr. Raja Mohan, Senior Fellow, Asia Society Policy Institute.
