Research Areas

Adam H. Tong is an Associate Fellow for the Energy, Economics, and Security Program at CNAS. His work focuses on US - China economic competition, China's economic statecraft, and sanction resilience.

Before joining CNAS, he worked as an analyst at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), where he played a key role in the delivery of a multi-year research project on the Belt and Road Initiative. This included the publication of two books, multiple reports and analytical studies, and the creation of an interactive public online database tracking the evolution of Chinese-funded infrastructural and digital projects, among other geo-economic topics.

Adam is a graduate of the Master of Science in Foreign Service Program at Georgetown University; He also holds B.A. degrees in Political Science and Art History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
