Amy Schafer
Former Research Associate, Military, Veterans, and Society Program
Amy Schafer is a former fellow at the Center for a New American Security, where she focuses on civil-military relations, issues facing military families and veterans, and military personnel reform. Ms. Schafer joined CNAS having previously interned at both the Council on Foreign Relations and the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Policy. She also spent a year working for Facebook in their New York City office, focused on recruiting and personnel.
Ms. Schafer’s publications can be found in venues such as War on the Rocks, The National Interest, and Task & Purpose. Graduating Magna Cum Laude from the College of William and Mary with a B.A. in both Government and Music, Amy is currently pursuing a Master’s in Security Studies at Georgetown University. Her research interests include U.S. national security strategy and defense policy, civil-military relations, and military personnel reform.
