Christina Powell

Christina Powell is a career U.S. Diplomat currently serving in the 24/7 State Department Operations Center. She most recently completed a 2-year tour at U.S. Embassy Riyadh, Saudi Arabia where she led bi-lateral engagement efforts on human trafficking, anti-corruption and migrant labor reforms. Prior, Christina served at U.S. Consulate Rio de Janeiro where she adjudicated consular matters, supported Mission-critical efforts to protect U.S. citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic, and covered Brazilian elections. Christina has also worked as a Cyber Threat Analyst in the State Department's Bureau of Diplomatic Security, at the U.S. Embassy in Bogota, Colombia and as a Legislative Fellow with the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Christina earned an M.A. in Security Policy Studies, with a focus on Intelligence and Military Operations from Georgetown University, and has a B.A. in Government and Politics, and International Development and Conflict Management from the University of Maryland. Christina was a 2016 recipient of the Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellowship, a 2023 Aspen Strategy Group Rising Leader Fellow, and is a Defense Councilmember at the Truman National Security Project. She also co-chairs a working group within Women of Color Advancing Peace Security and Conflict Transformation. Christina speaks advanced Portuguese, intermediate Gulf Arabic and has also studied Spanish.
