Research Areas

Jakob Barlow is a research assistant for the Defense Program at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS), where he focuses on great power conflict, artificial intelligence, global security, and defense innovation. Barlow also supports the CNAS Gaming Lab. Prior to joining CNAS, he worked as a program associate for government affairs at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) and as a graduate fellow at McLarty Associates’ Europe and Eurasia Practice.

He holds an MA in international relations and economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a BA in international relations and public policy from the Syracuse University Maxwell School.
