Jennifer January Therrien

Jennifer January Therrien is a global health security analyst as a career civil servant, starting as a Presidential Management Fellow at CDC and an biosecurity analyst at the DOD prior to joining her current global health policy position at the State Department. She engages in the intersection between infectious disease science and global health policy, with a research focus on international biosecurity. She worked on COVID-19 response teams at both DOD and State and is currently supporting international negotiations to improve global health security responses in advance of the next pandemic. She particularly enjoys briefing on technical issues and in-depth analyses.

She holds a Master of Science in Foreign Service, specializing in Science, Technology, and International Affairs from Georgetown University and completed an interdisciplinary undergraduate degree with honors in Science and Society studies at Brown University. She studies Spanish and Japanese languages and enjoys theatre and martial arts in her spare time.
