Assistant Deputy for Military Force Management, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Manpower and Reserve Affairs
Ms. Knowles is the Assistant Deputy for Military Force Management in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Manpower and Reserve Affairs, where she provides guidance and oversight on plans and policies impacting Department of the Air Force military personnel policy to include: education and training, military promotions, military evaluations, awards, separations, assignments, and manpower. Ms. Knowles came to the Air Force from the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel (OUSD-P&R). During her four years at OUSD-P&R she severed as the Chief of Staff to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Force Safety and Occupational Health, the Strategic Communications Analyst to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Readiness, and the Legislative Analyst to the Director for Force Resiliency.
Ms. Knowles served on the Military Compensation and Retirement Modernization Commission, as the Legislative Director. The Commission was created to conduct a review of the military compensation and retirement systems. Prior to the Commission, she served on the Hill for six years as the Assistant for the Personnel Subcommittee of the Senate Armed Services Committee, providing support and research on military personnel policy and programs, including compensation, military retirement and benefits, health care, and wounded warrior issues. Ms. Knowles started her career on Senator Jack Reed (RI) staff.
Ms. Knowles lives in Arlington, VA. with her husband Josh, their son Killian, and three Boston Terriers, Abigail Adams, Paul Revere, and Quincy Adams. When possible, she enjoys competing in triathlons and running races to include Half Ironman triathlons, marathons, and her favorite, the Army 10 Miler.
