Jessica Drun

Jessica Drun is a Data Scientist Analyst with the Panjiva team at S&P Global. In this role, she writes code in order to build tools that derive insights from semi-structured shipping data. She also focuses on external outreach efforts to D.C.-area organizations, engaging with partners on issues at the intersection of global supply chains and national security.

Jessica is concurrently a Nonresident Fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Global China Hub, where she assesses a range of political and security issues pertaining to China and Taiwan. She was previously a China Task Lead at SOS International’s Center for Intelligence Research and Analysis and has also held positions at the Project 2049 Institute, the National Bureau of Asian Research, and the National Defense University’s Center for the Study of Chinese Military Affairs.

She specializes in cross-Strait relations, Taiwan domestic politics, and U.S.-Taiwan relations. Her commentary and work have been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, Foreign Policy, BBC Chinese, the Associated Press, and the Jamestown Foundation’s China Brief.

Jessica graduated with an MA in Asian Studies from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and an AB in International Affairs from the University of Georgia. She spent a year abroad in Taiwan as a Boren National Security Fellow and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and conversational in Min Nan Chinese.
