Josh Wallin is a Fellow in the Defense Program at CNAS. His research forms part of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Safety & Stability Project, focusing on technology and policy to strengthen testing and verification of safety-critical AI systems. His work seeks to improve the adoption of AI across industry by identifying best practices to increase safety and enhance trust.
Prior to joining CNAS, Josh was a Technology and National Security Fellow on the Joint Staff at the U.S. Department of Defense. In this role, he assessed the impact of emerging technologies on the future Joint Force. Previously, he worked as a software engineer at John Wiley & Sons and as an engineering intern at NASA and Collins Aerospace.
Josh holds an MS in computer science from Northeastern University and a BS in computer engineering and Spanish from Iowa State University.
