Deputy Staff Director of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence for Chairman Mark Warner
Maria Mahler-Haug serves as Deputy Staff Director of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence for Chairman Mark Warner. She joined the committee in 2019 as Professional Staff Member and Designee to Senator Michael F. Bennet. Previously, she served as Military Legislative Assistant to Senator Bennet, advising on national security matters. Mahler-Haug was a Robert Bosch Foundation Fellow, completing rotations at the German Ministry of Defense office of NATO policy and at the German export credit agency, Euler Hermes. She also served as Policy Aide to Senator Claire McCaskill, supporting the senator’s work on the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Subcommittee on Contracting Oversight. Mahler-Haug also worked as a Legislative Assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives. She graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and from the Naval War College with a Master’s degree in Defense and Strategic Studies.
