Michelle Grisé

Policy Researcher, RAND Corporation
Dr. Michelle Grisé is a senior policy researcher at the RAND Corporation, where her current research portfolio includes Iran, Russian foreign policy and military strategy, homeland defense, and nuclear proliferation and deterrence. She is also a Professor of Policy Analysis at the Pardee RAND Graduate School.
Before joining RAND in 2018, Dr. Grisé clerked at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. She was previously a Fulbright fellow in Israel, a visiting researcher at the Lahore University of Management Sciences in Pakistan, a policy fellow at the Yale Institution for Social and Policy Studies, and the Society for the History of Technology's NASA Fellow in the History of Space Technology. Dr. Grisé has taught courses on international law, international organizations, and the legal implications of emerging technologies at Carnegie Mellon University's Institute for Politics and Strategy.
Dr. Grisé received a Ph.D. in history from Yale University, where she specialized in international history and modern South and Southeast Asia. Her dissertation, which examined the development of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons and space programs, drew on archival research and interviews in nine countries. Dr. Grisé also holds a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and a B.A. in history, with honors, from the University of Chicago. She is a member of the New York Bar. Her articles and commentary have recently appeared in The Hill, The National Interest, Business Insider, The Cipher Brief, Politico, and Sveriges Television.
