Miriam Krieger

Col Miriam Krieger (Ph.D.) is an Air Force fighter pilot, Permanent Professor and Head of the Department of Political Science at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Division Chair for the Social Sciences Division, and Chair of the Graduate School Committee. She recently returned from sabbatical, where she advised the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and Chief of Staff of the Air Force. She previously served as Deputy Group Commander of Cadet Group Three and Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Col Krieger received her Ph.D. from the Department of Government at Georgetown University, focusing on International Relations and Security Studies. Her research interests include diversity and security, military diplomacy as a tool of foreign policy, military strategic culture, civil-military relations, and talent management. Her dissertation investigated the impact of US foreign military assistance on the civil-military relations of recipient nations, and she has been a Fellow with both CNAS and the Brookings Institution.

Col Krieger combines operational expertise in the F-16 with her academic acumen as an air power strategist. Her experience flying with a Reserve unit, time serving on the Joint Staff, and deep networks in the academic and think tank communities offer a broad background for policy development and analysis.
