Inspector-Instructor for 3d Battalion, U.S. Marine Corps

Nathan Fleischaker is a U.S. Marine Corps officer currently serving as the Inspector-Instructor for 3d Battalion, 23d Marines where he supports and oversaw a 650-person Marine Corps Reserve infantry battalion, ensuring its readiness for mobilization and deployment. Prior assignments include serving as a strategic advisor in the Commandant of the Marine Corps’ Office of Net Assessment providing advice and analysis to the Commandant, Assistant Commandant and other senior leaders. Previously he served as the Chief of Plans at the Joint Force Headquarters – Cyberspace (Marines) in Fort Meade, MD. There he oversaw planning efforts to integrate Cyberspace Operations and Capabilities into Combatant Command future operations and plans, focusing on support to DOD counter terrorism efforts. He has also served as an infantry battalion Operations Officer and a Company Commander. During his career, he has completed multiple overseas tours including combat deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan and support to numerous multi-lateral partnerships and exercises. A 2003 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy (Electrical Engineering), he has a PhD in Political Science from Stanford University and other graduate degrees from Oxford University (PPE) and the Marine Corps University’s School of Advanced Warfighting (Operational Studies). Originally from Carlsbad, CA he currently lives in St Louis, MO with his wife Lisa and their four children
