Nathaniel Schochet

Former Program Administrator, Indo-Pacific Security Program

Nathaniel Schochet is a former Program Administrator for the Indo-Pacific Security Program at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS).

He graduated in May 2020 from Hobart and William Smith Colleges with a major in Asian Studies and a minor in International Relations. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree at the American University School of International Service in Washington, DC. His area of specialization is comparative regional studies in the Indo-Pacific region, specifically focusing on China. He previously worked as an intern with a Hong Kong-based non-profit called HeroesToo. He also assisted in the compilation of information on Chinese think tanks as an intern at the Think Tank and Civil Society Program at the University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, he transcribed the oral histories of Foreign Service Officers who spent time in China as an intern with the Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training.

Nathaniel was most recently an Associate Analyst at CJPA Global Advisors, where he worked with Chinese clients to publish reports on numerous subjects, including US foreign relations with Ukraine, Chinese economic engagement with Honduras, and improving US-China relations. He has also published various articles on topics relating to China in The Diplomat, South China Morning Post, Forbes, and China-U.S. Focus. He is also a member of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations.
