Senior Associate, Financial Integrity Network
Omar S. Bashir is a Senior Associate at the Financial Integrity Network. In this role, he is a sanctions specialist who advises clients based in East Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America on building safeguards against money laundering, corruption, and other financial crimes. He received his Ph.D. in Politics from Princeton University, where he was a Fellow at the Center for International Security Studies, a Harold W. Dodds Fellow, and a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow.
Omar previously received two aerospace engineering degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.Phil. in International Relations from the University of Oxford, where his thesis was awarded Distinction. His research has covered energy rivalry, power and interdependence, crisis signaling, Islamism and Pakistani foreign policy, and vote buying at the UN Security Council. He has published peer-reviewed work in social science and engineering journals.
