Omer Rafiq

Omer Rafiq serves as a Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict. Before joining the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Omer was an Infantry Officer in the Marines, with deployments spanning Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and East Africa. Over the course of his military career, he served in conventional, special operations, and interagency assignments, managing portfolios that included security cooperation, counterterrorism, and crisis response.
Omer holds a Master’s in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, where he was a Center for Public Leadership Fellow and a Pat Tillman Scholar. He also earned a Bachelor of Science from Worcester State University and a Master of Science in International Relations from Northeastern University.
