Defense Department Beginning Investments In Big Data Analytics

The Defense Department intends to release a request for proposals to operate and provide support for "big data" collection and analysis. The posting follows a larger trend set by DOD's new Long Range Research and Development Plan, which is putting a heavy emphasis on big data technologies.

The April 8 presolicitation on the Federal Business Opportunities website states the RFP will be for the Missile and Space Intelligence Center in Redstone Arsenal, AL, and requires "analytical network, modeling and simulation of computationally-intensive computer systems operation" and high performance computer system operation.
