Faster Troop Reduction In Afghanistan Urged

Dozens of US senators, most of them Democrats, are urging President Barack Obama to announce a “sizeable and sustained reduction” of US military forces in Afghanistan beginning next month, reflecting growing opposition on Capitol Hill to the Pentagon’s preference for a gradual withdrawal.A letter to the president, obtained by the Financial Times, had been signed by 24 senators on Tuesday night and was expected to gather more support on Wednesday.
