Lynn: Partnerships will drive defense R&D success
Research and development constitute a large part of the Third Offset – the defense Department’s effort to make sure the US military technologically stays at least a generation ahead of its potential adversaries. The Center for a New American Security is launching the Future Foundry initiative to make recommendations to the Defense Department on how to integrate new technology…and new competitors…into the defense industrial base. Former Deputy Secretary of Defense Bill Lynn is a co-chair of the initiative, along with former NASA Administrator and Navy Secretary Sean O’Keefe. He talked about the importance of a partnership between the industrial base and the Defense Department in today’s portion of the exclusive two-part interview on National Defense Week.
