Pentagon planners need better climate data to assess security threats - study

The Pentagon needs more robust climate predictions to help it prepare for global warming impacts across a broad range of operations, the Defense Department's outside scientific advisory board warns in a new report.

"Climate change will only grow in concern for the United States and its security interests," Defense Science Board Chairman Paul Kaminski wrote in his cover letter to the study, "Trends and Implications of Climate Change for National and International Security."
