Stealthiest U.S. Submarine Makes Rare Appearance in Arabian Sea

Former submariner Tom Shugart noted that the Arabian Sea is roughly the same distance from Beijing and Moscow, and that the messaging could be to both. Technically, the location may be "a little too close to Iran" for nuclear launches, the adjunct senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security said.

"Perhaps it's just to show whomever needs to be reminded that the U.S. is willing and able to send SSBNs to virtually any ocean area it chooses, undetected," he said.
