US, Germany stand strong in fight to defend democracy

The president of the Centre for New American Security, Richard Fontaine, said the meeting ­between the two leaders had not necessarily bridged differences ­between the US and Germany. “But the tone was very different,” he said. “President Trump seemed to reserve a special feeling of grievance for Germany, seeing it as a major NATO economy shirking its defence responsibilities."
