CNAS Mourns the Passing of Board Member Emerita Madeleine Albright

Washington, March 23, 2022—Today, CNAS Chief Executive Officer Richard Fontaine made the following statement on the passing of Board Member Emerita Madeleine Albright:

"All of us at CNAS are deeply saddened by the passing of Madeleine Albright. A founding member of the Center’s board, Secretary Albright was visionary, inspirational, and extraordinary. She believed fiercely in America, in the force of diplomacy, and the power of democracy. We benefitted deeply from her wisdom, kindness, and grace.

"Secretary Albright lent her time and industry to CNAS from its earliest days, and the Center’s contours reflect her insights. She inspired our team at all levels, and remained remarkably generous and gracious with everyone here.

"A figure of historical impact and importance, she was to CNAS both Madeleine and Madam Secretary. We count ourselves lucky for having known her, and we will miss her very much."
