CNAS Welcomes New Adjunct Senior Fellow Will Rogers

Washington, February 12, 2025 — Today, the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) is pleased to announce Will Rogers as an adjunct senior fellow.

Rogers is a national security and foreign policy professional with more than 15 years of experience on Capitol Hill, in the Pentagon, and in the think tank community specializing in national security, climate, and energy.

“We are thrilled to welcome Will back to the Center,” said Katherine Kuzminski, deputy director of studies at CNAS. “Will’s experience and expertise at the intersection of national security, energy, and climate provides critical insights into U.S. competitiveness.”

Rogers most recently served as the senior climate advisor to the secretary of the Army, the first to hold this role, where he advised on climate risks, preparedness, and energy resilience. Previously, he was deputy legislative director and national security advisor to Senator Brian Schatz (D-HI) and a researcher at CNAS, where he was the Bacevich fellow from 2012–2013. He also held positions at the Woodrow Wilson Center and in the office of Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA).

Rogers holds an MA in security studies from Georgetown University and a BA in political science and international relations from the University of California San Diego. He is currently an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University’s Global Security Studies program.
