Kay King and Spencer Abruzzese Join CNAS to Lead External Relations and Development

The Center for a New American
Security (CNAS) is pleased to welcome two new staff members to its team. Kay
King, former Vice President at the Council on Foreign Relations, will lead the
Center's communications strategy as a Senior Advisor and Director of External
Relations. Spencer Abruzzese, who most recently served as Senior Associate
Director of Development at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced
International Studies (SAIS), will join the Center as the Director of Development
and Investor Relations.

As a Vice President at the Council on Foreign Relations, Ms. King led the
Washington office, ran special projects and authored a study on Congress and
national security. She also served as Vice President for External Relations at
the Center for Strategic and International Studies, as a Deputy Assistant
Secretary of State and on Capitol Hill. "Kay's deep understanding of the
Washington landscape acquired from her experience in the executive and
legislative branches of government and the nonprofit world will be a valuable
asset to CNAS," said CNAS CEO Nathaniel Fick. "Her innovative vision
for strategic communications and outreach will increase and strengthen the
impact of our work."

Prior to joining CNAS, Ms. Abruzzese worked in development at SAIS for more
than seven years. She also earned a Masters in International Public Policy
concentrating in Strategic Studies from SAIS. "It is a privilege to have
Spencer leading the development team at CNAS," said Mr. Fick. "The
expertise and skills she cultivated during her tenure at SAIS will be of great
benefit to our relationships with our supporters and to enhancing our strategic
partnerships."
