Austin #2, Odierno Heading Home

Abu Muqawama will be traveling on business these next few days. Some of you might even be "lucky" enough to hear his alter ego speak at a few events. Until Thursday, though, Charlie -- currently at home, watching Top Gun -- will be your primary care-giver.

In the meantime...

Lt. Gen. Ray Odierno, who performed better than anyone expected as the #2 in Iraq under Gen. Petraeus, is going home. Lt. Gen. Lloyd J. Austin III is his replacement.

Abu Muqawama has two questions. One, what does everyone think of Austin? Good choice? Anyone out there worked with him or know his reputation? And two, was there a member of the 3rd Infantry Division Staff who didn't "earn" a Silver Star in 2003?
