Foreign Aid Has an Enormous ROI for the U.S. and Boosts Our National Security. Don't Cut It.

Washington is today embroiled in a debate over foreign aid, and with it the kind of country America wishes to be. President Trump submitted to Congress a budget that slashes funding for the State Department and aid programs by some 30 percent.

The budget would reduce or eliminate humanitarian assistance, aid for global health, democracy support and economic development programs. While key senators, including majority leader Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham, who chairs the Senate subcommittee that directs foreign aid, oppose the cuts, the final outcome remains unclear.
