Exploiting Amphibious Operations to Counter Chinese A2/AD Capabilities
In this paper, Japan Forum Senior Fellow Colonel Grant Newsham, USMC (Ret.) examines how a mobile amphibious force with air, sea, and ground capability can effectively degrade China’s area-denial/anti-access capability. Colonel Newsham reviews the various weapon systems an amphibious force could use to deploy friendly A2/AD networks, envisions a multilateral amphibious offensive strategy, and prescribes a shift away from traditionally rigid thinking about amphibious ready group configuration.
